Shaolin Kids Kung Fu [少林孩子功夫 - Shàolín Háizi Gōngfū] will enrich your child's spirit through powerful martial arts kung fu movements.

Summary

Children who start Shaolin kung fu martial arts training at an early age will have a tremendous physical and mental health outlook in life. That's because they learn to develop mental willpower through the Shaolin Virtues of focus, perseverance, and strive early on.
Today, it's too easy and tempting for children to focus one's time on computers and gaming, while the body does not physically develop to its potential.
Our classes are designed to motivate children to discover themselves through a world of physical development exploring traditional Shaolin philosophy and exercises.
By training hard and pushing oneself, children are rewarded with fun games.
What your children will be learning in this course are authentic Shaolin training methods and wisdom passed on from Master to Disciple over the last 1,500 years.

Foundation I Class

Shaolin Kids Kung Fu Foundation I (1 hour class) is about training fundamentals that build flexibility, coordination, fitness and cardio, power, energy, and overall health.
A typical class includes warm up drills, stretching, stance training, foundation kicks, self-defence application exercises, and power training exercises.
This class will always be challenging and exhausting when the effort is put into it (regardless of level or experience).
The Foundation I Class is a required class, which means your child must continue to attend at least 1 Foundation class per week in order take more advanced classes. This ensures that everyone continues to develop his/her foundation jīběngōng 基本功. This is traditional Shaolin philosophy and perhaps the key reason why the Shaolin arts are considered so effective.

Foundation II Class

Shaolin Kids Kung Fu Foundation II (1 hour class) is a tougher class than Foundation I with fewer breaks, more exercises, and a faster pace. This class is recommended for those who are ready to push themselves and take their physical fitness to another level.
Students are required to pass a physical skill test in order to qualify for this class. This ensures that the students are ready for more advanced drills.
Students can interchange between Foundation I and II depending on how they feel during the week. For example, a student may try Foundation II earlier in the week and then Foundation I the day after to pace out their training.
Due to the pace of this class, your child should expect to get exhausted by putting a good effort in!

Taolu Forms I Class

Shaolin Kids Kung Fu Forms I (1 hour class) focuses on the first 3 taolu forms taught as well as self-defence exercises that enhance them. This class is designed for everyone as well as advanced students who want to brush up on their key taolu forms.
Students are required to take Foundation I or II at least once a week in order to qualify for this class.
Some of the taolu forms taught are progressive, which means your child will need to pass a test set by an instructor before moving on to another form. Each taolu form also has 4 tiers of expertise so that students will have a clear understanding of where they are at. The instructor will coach your child on how to get to the next level.
Some forms your child will learn and practice are Five Stance Fist Wǔbùquán 五步拳, Small Chaining Form Xiǎoliánhuán 小連環, and Eight Stance Chaining Form Bābùliánhuán 八步連環.
Once your child has passed Small Chaining Form Level 1, he/she will begin basic cudgel / staff weapons training to build flexibility, strength, and control in the arms.

Taolu Forms II Class

Shaolin Kids Kung Fu Intermediate Forms II (1 hour class) focuses on taolu forms as well as self-defence exercises that enhance them.
Students are required to take the Foundation I or II at least once a week in order to qualify for this class.
Additionally students must be able to cleary demonstrate the forms in Shaolin Kung Fu Form I.
Some additional forms taught are Through the Arms Fist Tōngbìquán 通臂拳, Small Flooding Fist Xiǎohóngquán 小洪拳, Big Flooding Fist Dàhóngquán 大洪拳, and Seven Star Fist Qīxīngquan 七星拳.
When ready, your child will also advance to learn weapons forms such as cudgel / staff Yīnshǒugùn 阴手棍 and Plum Blossom Broadsword Méihuādāo 梅花刀.

Kids Sanda Chinese Boxing III Class

Shaolin Kids Kung Fu Sanda Chinese Boxing III focuses on the training methods of Chinese Boxing and is suitable for children under years of age.
Students are required to take the Foundation I or II at least once a week in order to participate in this class.
Additionally, students must have started the Staff Cudgel weapon training. This ensures a certain level of competency and experience.
All students are required to have proper sanda equipment which is also sold in limited supply at our school.
