Welcome to STQI Toronto!

"Hi! My name is Shi Chang Dao, or simply Master Dao. I am the Chief Instructor of the downtown Toronto school and also run an online school at LearnShaolin.com. I opened the school in the fall of 2011 under the guidance of my Shi Fu, Master Shi Guo Song. He is an authentic Shaolin monk that still practices traditional Shaolin kung fu martial arts, qi gong, and chan."

"Many cultures have a structured lifestyle yet it does not teach us how to be strong physically or mentally from within as we experience life. Healthy means being able to do what you want to now and when you are in your elderly years. I am very grateful to be able to pass on his teachings to help others through martial arts kung fu, tai chi, qi gong, meditation, and philosophy."

"My school aspires to help people of any age, any ethnicity, and any religious background. By joining my school you are making the effort to dedicate time and resources for improving yourself."

- Dao Shi, 35th Generation Shaolin Disciple

What does Tempering the Heart mean? The idea of tempering the heart means keeping your emotions steady and not fluctuating. This is at the very core of Zen wisdom and is a very specific skill. This skill is not easy to describe or to practice, so to better guide you through this topic, I will use the analogy of being at the bottom of a hole and using a ladder to get out of it. If you grasp the meaning, you will no doubt ta... [more]

Dear Fellow Shaolin Student, We invite you to participate in our Shaolin Team Canada Wushu Festival on Saturday, October 25th at 10am. A 'Perceptual-Belief Hole' is an abstract representation of a very stubborn and complex perceptual layer that forms from knowledge and logic. Thus they are ideas that we believe are very important to us, and make us act and behave in a way that causes suffering to ourselves and others. The sources of these holes can be learned or developed by fantasy and self-delusion. We often do not realize the impacts of the holes w... [more]
