2024 T3 Fall Term Begins with the Aspect of Meditation

In the past month, we have had many performances - Chinatown Festival, Dragon Festival, and Community Outdoor Movie Nights with the City of Toronto.

At each one, Master Dao talked about Shaolin Meditation and its importance. In particular, he said:

"Shaolin Meditation is a discipline of practice that enables self-wisdom. It helps you to see yourself and the world around you more clearly. In this way, you can directly find peace and happiness."

This statement strongly suggests that one needs to practice meditation to find the quickest way to peace and happiness, and that only through dedication to practice can one truly understand what this means.

He also said:

"There are three types of Shaolin Meditation: 1) Still Meditation, 2) Simple Moving Meditation (e.g. Shaolin Qigong), and 3) Complex Moving Meditation (i.e. Shaolin Kung Fu and Shaolin Tai Chi)."

This means that meditative aspects are built into these Shaolin Arts. By training and practicing with meditation in mind, one will learn to embody what we call the 'Supreme Shaolin Spirit'. Perhaps this is what makes Shaolin Culture and the idea of 'Shaolin Martial Zen' truly unique.

As we begin the 2024 T3 Fall Term of classes (which runs from September 2 to December 15), Master Dao is asking his students and parents to think about these statements and take the time to reflect upon their lives.
